About Heat Recovery Steam Generator
A heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) is an energy recovery heat exchanger that recovers heat from a hot gas stream, such as a combustion turbine or other waste gas stream. It produces steam that can be used in a process (cogeneration) or used to drive a steam turbine (combined cycle). Heat recovery can be used extensively in energy projects, such as desalination plants and electricity for university campus use. The HRSG can recover the heat from the gas turbine to produce steam/hot water for district heating or cooling. Large ocean vessels use heat recovery so that their oil-fired boilers can be shut down while underway.
